PRIDE Month + Brands ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

The beginning of the LGBTQ+ movement in the United States happened in late June of 1969, also known as the Stonewall Riots

This PRIDE month was a lot different due to the spread of COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality. The LGBTQ+ community and organizations cancelled PRIDE month celebrations in order to support what is happening in the world.

Although PRIDE month celebrations were cancelled by groups, the celebration of yourself will always be there. This PRIDE month was celebrated by giving back to the LGBTQ+ community.

Here are three brands that celebrated PRIDE the right way!

  1. Calvin Klein #PROUDINMYCALVINS

The campaign featured nine people from LGBTQ+ community. One of the ads introduced the audience to who they all were and gave insight about their lives. The face of this campaign is Brazilian Drag Queen Pablo Vittar.  Along with the ad campaign came a PRIDE collection featured on the Calvin Klein website. The collection consists of rainbow print and rainbow colored items: shirts, underwear, swimsuits, and bottoms. For this ad campaign, Calvin Klein partnered with multiple charities. One of the charities is Out Right International and the Global Emergency Fund COVID LGBTIQ-19.

  1. Skittles

Thatโ€™s why we have given up our rainbow to show support for the LGBTQ+ community! For every SKITTLES Pride Pack sold we are donating $1 to <a href=”https://twitter.com/glaad?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>@glaad</a>.๐ŸŒˆ <a href=”https://t.co/mecpWaVhzA”>pic.twitter.com/mecpWaVhzA</a></p>&mdash; SKITTLES (@Skittles) <a href=”https://twitter.com/Skittles/status/1263131064765157376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>May 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

Skittles went grey in efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community for the month of June. โ€œOnly one rainbow matters during PRIDE,โ€ is printed on their bags along with grey packaging and grey candy. For every PRIDE pack sold, one dollar will be donated to GLAAD. GLAAD is an organization that helps to change the media reporting perspective on the LGBTQ+ community. Their goal is the change the narrative of main-stream media reporting on the LGBTQ+ community. GLAAD was founded in efforts to change the sensationalist media reports during the AIDS crisis.

  1. Nike BeTrue and Converse Pride Collection

Nike and Converse have partnered with more than 20 national and local LGTQ+ charities in efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community through โ€œsports, creating safe spaces and elevating the history of the communityโ€.
